Utah Swim Coach Named to USA Swimming Zone Select Camp

SALT LAKE CITY - USA Swimming has appointed University of Utah head coach Michael Litzinger Director for the 2006 Zone Select Camp. The camp will take place May 18-21 at the Ute Natatorium.
"It is an honor to be named Director of this particular camp," said Litzinger. "USA Swimming is in continual development of our next set of great athletes, and it is these camps in which our next Olympians come from. It will be a pleasure to host these athletes, and have an opportunity for them to visit Salt Lake City."
Beginning in the spring of 2006, USA Swimming will sponsor four Zone Select Camps, replacing the current Regional Select and Regional Distance Camps. USA Swimming seeks to identify the emerging young athletes in each Zone, offering them a unique motivational and educational experience.
Twenty-eight male and 28 female athletes will be selected in each of the four Zones. The ages range from 12-14 years.
Applications for assistant coaches at each of the camps will be accepted through February 15, 2006 and are available in the Camps and Clinics section of the USA Swimming website.
