DES MOINES, Ia.; PROVO, Utah - The University of Utah women's track and field team continued its outdoor season when it split up to compete at the prestigious Drake Relays in Des Moines, Ia., as well as the Robison Invitational in Provo, Utah, this afternoon.
Today at the Drake Relays, Utah's 400m hurdlers and 4x400m relay teams shined. Jen Fresques and Amanda Feigt finished 15th and 17th in the 400m hurdles, respectively. Fresques recorded a time 61.10 while Feigt clocked it in 61.21.
The 4x400m relay squad checked in at 20th. The team of Feigt, Fresquese, Haley McAllister and Ashley Patterson turned in a 3:53.98 effort.
Meanwhile, down south in Provo, the Utes' Nikki Mancinelli and Nicki Hugie each tallied second-place finished for the Crimson and White. Mancinelli was runner-up in the high jump with a leap of 5-3 while Hugie finished second in the 1500m run in 4:55.73.
The Utes also benefited from a third-place showing in the javelin. It was Liddy Steele's effort of 120-8 in the event that was good enough for third.
The split squads return to the track in their respective meets tomorrow. Utah will participate in the long jump at the Drake Relays tomorrow morning while the rest of the team will compete at the Robison Invitational.
