SALT LAKE CITY - The Mountain West Conference honored 13 University of Utah swimming and diving student-athletes by awarding them with the league's 2005-06 Scholar Athlete Award.
On the women's side, junior Anna Braszkiwiecz (3.66, Business), senior Meghan Demchuk (3.56, marketing), senior Marissa Martin (3.90, human development and family Studies), senior Alison McInturff (3.58, biology), sophomore Jennifer Trescott (3.55, sociology/international studies) and senior Amber Walker (3.62, exercise and sport science), junior Lisa Wight (3.5, athletic training) were honored.
From the men's team, junior Andrew Brown (3.63, political science), senior Tanner Folster (3.97, biology), senior Jacob Jewett (3.53, film studies), sophomore Adam Oliver, (3.57, undecided), junior Nick Ortman (3.57, marketing) and junior Nick Philpot, (3.60, chemistry) were also recognized.
In all, 54 Utah student-athletes were recognized.
A total of 535 student-athletes league-wide were named Mountain West Conference Scholar Athletes for 2005-06. To be eligible for selection student-athletes must have completed at least two academic terms at the member institution, while maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or better, and have participated in varsity competition for their athletic team.
