SALT LAKE CITY - The University of Utah women's tennis team played Montana State at home on Friday for a 7-0 win in the Utes' favor.
Utah controlled the competition from the beginning. The Utes won all three matches in doubles play for the second night in a row, earning them the doubles point.
In singles play the Utes dominated the courts, starting with No.67 Elizabeth Ferris' win over Nicole Leutolf 6-1, 6-0.
After a tough loss on Thursday, Andrea Maughan came back to redeem herself. Playing at the No. 3 slot, the Ute freshman faced Remy Clark from the Montana State for a 6-1, 6-3 winning battle for Maughan.
A refreshed Karine Bourdages brushed off her loss from the night before as well. The Ute faced Ali Griffin from the Bobcats at the No. 4 slot. Bourdages took the match with ease 6-2, 6-2, edging the overall score to 6-0 for Utah.
The last one on the court was sophomore Leigh Walsh. Walsh faced Katy Proeitti from the Bobcats at the No. 2 slot. The Ute took the first set after a tie breaker 7-6(3). At the end of the second set, Proeitti was at the net, but Walsh hit the ball back to the baseline out of the Bobcat's reach to take the set and match 7-6(3), 6-4. The Utes ended the match with a 7-0 victory over Montana State.
On Saturday, the Utes will face the University of Montana at 3:00 p.m. MT at Eccles Tennis Center.
