For the men, Utah won three of five events at the Relays, while the women also came out on top, winning four of five.
For the women, Utah won the 600 butterfly relay with a time of 6:27.98, with the team of Jennifer Fredsall, Michelle Blair and Kelly McIntyre. The 600 backstroke relay was won by Utah's Shannon McQueen, Marissa Martin and Beth Gunderson in 6:30.79. The 600 breaststroke team of Adrienne Coburn, Caitlin Tidwell and Barbara Silva won by .7 seconds with their time of 7:31.17. Utah also added a victory in the 500 free relay with Amber Walter, Annie VanLeeuwen, Alison McInturff, and McQueen.
The men won the 600 backstroke relay in 5:52.10, with the team of Adam Oliver, Andrew Cole and David Johnson. The Utes won the 500 free relay with a time of 4:03.69. That team was Matthew Bailey, David Maasberg, George Evans and Marco Ferraro. Finally the team of Andrew Cole, Nick Philpot and Michel DeCarolis won the 300 medley relay with a time of 2:45.47.
"It has been a great week of training for us over the holiday break," comments Assistant Coach Ron Lockwood. "Both teams swam well and we look forward to the season starting up again."
On the diving front Utah traveled to the Georgia Invitational, where Kelsey Patterson won the three-meter diving with a score of 286.75. Patterson also finished seventh in the one-meter diving (232.95). For the men, Damien Brown finished sixth in the platform diving with a score of 267.45, while, Andrew Jones placed ninth in the three-meter diving (291.15).
Utah will next compete at TCU on Jan. 13, as it resumes conference competition.
