Ferris Falls in Second Round of Qualifiers

PACIFIC PALISADES, CALIF. - Elizabeth Ferris (88) from the University of Utah women's tennis team will return home after a great journey in the 2007 Riviera/ITA All-American Tournament. Ferris finished her playing time in the qualifying round of the tournament after a rough 6-1, 6-4 loss to Christy Striplin from Georgia Tech in the second round.
Ferris, a senior from Anaheim, Calif., began play in the first round of the qualifiers, facing Olivia Colman from San Diego State on Tuesday. The Ute was on fire against the Aztec, and took the match with ease at 6-1, 6-2. Moving into the second round, Ferris faced Striplin from Georgia Tech. The Yellow Jacket didn't hold anything back as she stung out a 6-1, 6-4 win over the Ute.

The University of Utah women's tennis team will travel to Boise State University for the Jack Taylor Classic this weekend for their second fall tournament of the year.
