SALT LAKE CITY - The University of Utah women's tennis team will head to Tempe, Ariz. this week as they prepare for the ASU Invitational. The competition will run Friday through Sunday and features intense competition between schools like Stanford, Michigan, Arizona State, Purdue, and Utah.
This is the first time the University of Utah has competed in this tournament, but for head coach Mat Iandolo this is a mandatory event for the teams he coaches. Representing Utah at the ASU Invitational will be Elizabeth Ferris (88), Leigh Walsh, and Evgenia Kryunchkova.
"The ASU Invitational is the last tournament of the fall, and other than the All-American [tournament], this is the strongest one of the season," states Iandolo. "There will be several Top 10 teams as well as powerhouses like Michigan, ASU, and Stanford. Purdue will have some players competing as well. It is going to be a great tournament and venue."
