SALT LAKE CITY - Senior outside hitter Kate Robison was named Mountain West Conference Co-Player of the Week on Monday, marking her first career weekly honor.
Robison, from Syracuse, Utah, led the Utes to a 2-0 conference record with wins over then-No. 25 UNLV and San Diego State. She started the weekend with 15 kills, 13 digs and three total blocks in a four-game upset victory over then-No. 25 UNLV. Against San Diego State, she put down 13 kills (.400 hitting efficiency) while tallying nine digs, four total blocks and one assist. For the week, Robison averaged 4.00 kills, 3.14 digs, 1.00 blocks and 4.50 points per game in seven games played.
For the year, Robison is averaging 2.70 kills per game and is second on the team with 2.91 digs per game. She also has 16 aces on the season.
Robison shares the honor with Brigham Young's Bryn Porter.
Utah (13-14, 9-7 MWC) travels to Las Vegas, Nev., for the MWC Tournament, beginning on Thursday, Nov. 22. The fifth-seeded Utes open play against No. 4 seed TCU. The match will be televised live on the mtn., at 3 p.m. MT.
