OGDEN, Utah (AP) - Shaun Green scored 18 points, all on 3-pointers, as the University of Utah defeated Weber State 72-52 Wednesday night.
Trailing 16-4 less than eight minutes into the game, the Utes (3-2) went on a 20-2 run, including nine points from Green, to take a 24-18 with 1:02 remaining in the first half. Utah's defense held the Wildcats without a field goal for more than 12 minutes and led 27-21 by halftime.
Three other Utes scored in double-digits for Utah. Luke Nevill finished with 16 while Johnnie Bryant added 12. Tyler Kepkay had 10 points.
Arturas Valeika led the Wildcats (2-3) with 15 points and 10 rebounds for his fifth double-double in five games.
After the break, Nevill, who had just two points in the first half, took over. The 7-foot 1-inch junior scored the first six points in the second half.
Utah led 54-33 with 9:57 remaining in the game after a technical foul on Weber State head coach Randy Rahe that resulted a pair of free throws by Bryant.
The Utes shot 52 percent in the game overall, with a 72 percent performance in the second half.
