LAS VEGAS, Nev. - Utah's swimming and diving team completed day two of the UNLV Invitational Sunday. The Utes continued to show well against some of the best competition in the nation as they had several top four finishers, highlighted by Marco Ferraro winning the 200 free with a time of 1:39.18. In that same event teammate Garret Beaman placed second with a time of 1:39.93.
The men also got strong performances from other swimmers including, Vlas Lesson, placing fourth in the 100 fly (50.61). Beaman added a sixth place finish in the 100 back with his swim of 51.70.
For the Utah women, the 200 medley relay team of Shannon McQueen, Caitlin Tidwell, Jennifer Fredsall and Natalie Edge placed fourth with a time of 1:46.90. Freshman Maiya Otsuka swam a 4:27.95 in the 400 IM, which was good for third-place. Fredsall finished second in the 100 fly in a time of 56.21. Edge placed fourth in the 200 free (1:53.73), while McQueen finished fourth in the 100 back (57.51) to wrap things up for the Utes on day two.
