INDIANAOPLIS -- University of Utah track and field standout Alyssa Abbott competed at the US Junior Nationals today, chalking up a 2:16.67 in the first round of the 800m.
Abbott did not qualify for the second round.
"This was a great experience for Alyssa," said Utah head coach Kyle Kepler. "This was a chance for her to run against some of the best middle-distance runners in the country. I have no doubt in my mind that she'll be back here competing again. But, now it's time to rest and get ready for the cross country season this fall."
Ute Amanda Feigt has yet to compete. She will race in the first round of the 400m hurdles at the US Championships. That event is slated for Friday at 5:30 p.m. (EDT).
The top three finishers in each event will represent the United States at the World Championships in Osaka, Japan in late August.
