Dec. 10, 2008
Utah head coach Jim Boylen
"We missed 11 free throws. We are a very good free throwing shooting team, and we can't beat teams with missed free throws. It is painful to lose a game at the line. We did everything to make it to the line and once we got there we didn't make our shots."
"It was a disappointing loss but I am not discouraged with our team. I am proud of how we stayed in the game towards the end. This game set us up to grow and learn in our end- of-game execution. I am proud of how we came out of the locker room (for the second half) and responded and competed."
Senior guard Tyler Kepkay
"It wasn't the final shot that made us lose. We made mistakes through out the game that put us behind. It shouldn't have to come down to the final seconds."
Sophomore guard Carlon Brown
"We could have come out stronger in the first half. We didn't have many rebounds and we missed free throws."
"When we play Oklahoma we have to come out and play. We have to come out as a group and compete."
California head coach Mike Montgomery
"We were fortunate to have the last shot. Luckily, we were in a tie and not behind trying to get the last shot, so we could have gone into overtime if we didn't make it."
"I thought that this was one of our better performances this year from a lot of different people, in terms of being smart against what Utah runs. They run good stuff, they know what they want to do."
"Kepkay came in and hurt us and the `big guy' [Luke Nevill] was a constant problem for us. We had to keep rotating people in, and we had a lot of people come off the bench and play very smart basketball."
"Jim [Boylen] does a really good job of helping his players understand spacing."
"We gave up some stuff to the [Nevill] in order to protect the corners where they really shoot the ball well."
