Utah 91, LSU 61 Postgame Quotes
Utah Head Coach Jim Boylen:
"We talked about rebounding and defending, and not turning the ball over. If we did that, we would have a chance to win this game, and we won the rebound game and the defense was outstanding. We gave some things up in the first half which was the game plan, to give up some perimeter shots."
"LSU made some shots that they haven't made, they have talented kids. I am thankful for my team, thankful that my team is continuing to grow and learn and get better. We have grown in that we understand that the only way to win is in defense, rebounding, and caring for each other."
"We are a closer team, we are more of a player-coached team, which I think you need to be. My guys are talking to each other more, caring for each other more. It wasn't that way when I got here. We have started to not want to let each other down."
Senior Center Luke Nevill:
"I am used to getting double-teamed, especially when I start scoring in the block. But no one came and no one helped so I just kept on going to work."
"LSU is a good school. It was a big game for both teams. I wasn't surprised that we won the game. The score was a little surprising. They have a good record but they haven't really played any games away. We were able to prepare for this game with our schedule and it paid off."
Sophomore Guard Carlon Brown: "I think Luke started it off and then we came in and finished it. He gives everyone else a confidence boost, being our captain."
"Anytime you can defend and rebound and get transition and easy buckets it helps us out a lot."
"We have come together a lot. Our fans and coaching staff motivate us to play at a higher level."
LSU Head Coach Trent Johnson:
"Utah beat the living tarnation out of us, in all phases. They are a good basketball team and they are going to have a chance to do a lot of special things during the course of the year."
