PALM SPRINGS, Calif - The University of Utah men's golf team completed the first two rounds of the Wyoming Desert Classic to end the day tied for eighth place. The Utes shot a first round of 301 followed by a second round of 291 for a two round total of 592, 16-over-par.
Leading Utah tied for sixth place is Derek Adams who shot identical rounds of 71 for a score of 142, two-under-par.
Mike Branca shot a beginning mark of 76 and a second round of 73 for a total of 149, five-over-par. One shot behind Branca is freshman Camden Nicholson with a two round score of 150 (77, 73), six-over-par.
Two shots behind Nicholson is junior Chase Hite at eight-over-par. Hite shot a first round of 78 adding a second round of 74. One shot behind with a two round total of 153 is Kaleb Mahanes (77, 76), nine-over-par.
Utah has two players competing as individuals they are Joe Webber and Jeff Kitches. Webber is tied in 11th place with a score of 144. Kitches is tied in 21st place with a two round mark of 147. Both individuals shot low rounds of 67 during the second round, the lowest for the team today.
Santa Clara University is in the number one spot in the team standings with a score of 572 (289, 283), four-under-par. Gabe Maier of Wyoming is in the top individual position with a score of 138 (70, 68), six-under-par.
They Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate will continue with the final round tomorrow at 7:45 p.m. shotgun start.
