Postgame Quotes
Idaho 94, Utah 87
Utah head coach Jim Boylen:
"I don't like giving up 94 points in our building, losing the (rebound) game or the free throw game. With saying that, I thought we battled. Our shot selection at times hurt us. I thought we tried to do it by ourselves at times, which young teams do. We have to learn what a good shot is and when it is time to take a good shot."
"You have to give Idaho credit, I thought they played well. We were right there and we gave up an offensive rebound, which was a big play, and the three-pointer at the end of the clock. They made the plays, we didn't. Veteran teams should make the plays, and you have to give them credit for that. I still thought we had a very good chance to win the game, and we didn't do it."
"We lost the free throw game and the (rebound) game and to me those are effort areas. That is the difference in the game."
"I love my team and I love this group of guys. We have a lot of coaching and teaching to do. My center position is going to be very good and my young guys are getting better. Marshall Henderson is a very good player he needs to understand time, score, and possession and we will work on that. I thought Jason Washburn changed the game with his rebounding and his running."
Idaho head coach Don Verlin:
"I thought we played early in the first half about as good a 15 min as our basketball team could play. I thought we went on some stretches in the second half where we weren't nearly as good as I wanted us to be, I didn't think we executed quite well. In the end I thought we did two things very well...One, we did a great job with game prep and taking them out of their sets and Two, I thought we played extremely hard and we played together and I thought those were the key ingredients for tonight's win."
"I don't know if we (exploited their youth), Marshall Henderson is a heck of a player. He had 18, he's obviously a very good freshman. Jason Washburn, another redshirt freshman had 20, so I don't know if their youth played as much as I thought."
"I don't know if Utah lost this game, I think we kind of went out and won it. We made some big shots, some huge shots, made some plays when we had to and that was really the difference in the game. I mean if you look at the stat sheet, we shot 49% from the field, 48% from three-point range and we out-rebounded them by six, but we win in a nail biter. I think it was just a heck of a basketball game."
