Utah Dominates Weber State, 56-41

SALT LAKE CITY - Taryn Wicijowski tallied her second double-double of the season with 16 points and 14 rebounds to lead Utah to a 56-41 victory over in-state rival Weber State.
Wicijowski was one of three players in double figure scoring, as Kalee Whipple also had 16 points while Janita Badon tallied 11 points with six assists. Halie Sawyer pulled down 12 rebounds.
Utah took a 10-0 lead before Weber State scored its first basket at the 14:13 mark. With the Utes holding a 16-2 lead with 12:34 left, the Wildcats went on a 9-0 run to cut the lead to five, 16-11, with 7:35 remaining on the clock. That was as close as Weber State would come the remainder of the game, as the Utes took back control and steadily pulled away the remainder of the half, holding a 31-16 advantage at the break. Wicijowski had her double-double by halftime with 10 points and 10 rebounds while Whipple tallied eight points.
The Utes started off the second half with a 10-2 run over the first 4:30 to go up by 23 points before substituting liberally throughout the remainder of the contest.
Utah won the rebounding battle, 51-29, including a 32-10 advantage in points in the paint.
Iwalani Rodrigues made her first career start, scoring four points. Mandy Munns had six rebounds and a point in 12 minutes. Chelsea Bridgewater saw her first career action.
The Utes turn around quickly to face Idaho State in the Huntsman Center tomorrow (Wednesday, Dec. 2). Tip is at 7:00 p.m.
