COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The University of Utah men's golf team completed the final 18 holes of the 41st USAFA Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational hosted by the Air Force Academy. The Utes shot a third round of 293 for a second place finish, seven-under-par.
Mike Branca slipped from his first place tie after the first two rounds tying for third place after the third round with a final score of 211 (65, 72, 74), five-under-par.
Kaleb Mahanes tied for 17th-place shooting a third round mark of 71 for a three round total of 216. Three strokes behind Mahanes, sophomore Chase Hite completed the final round with a score of 74 for a total combined score of 219.
Derek Adams shot five-over-par for a total score of 221 (77, 70, 74), tying for 42nd-place. Two strokes behind Adams, Jeff Kitches tied for 50th-place after shooting a score of 67 in the first round and 78 in the second and third rounds.
Colorado State University captured first place in the team standings with a total score of 855, nine-under-par. Steve Bidne of Northern Colorado took first in the individual standings with a score of 206, 10-under-par.
Up next the Utes head to Layton, Utah for the Utah/Weber State Purple and Red Invitational Sept. 28-29.
