Utah Head Coach Jim Boylen "I thought that we had some pretty good looks on the first half and I thought that there were some plays at the rim that we didn't make. I thought we got the ball inside, Tillie and Watkins had some plays at the rim that they didn't make. Henderson had some drives that we didn't make and we were seven for thirty in the first half, putting ourselves into a hole."
"We are going to keep grinding and working with this group. We have our full team back and we got to get better and practice together. We have some days of practice here and we are just going work to get better."
"I didn't like our energy at the beginning of the game. I thought the team was ready to play. We practiced well and our game plan was to win. We picked it up some tonight, but we can't put ourselves in the hole against good teams like we did. We don't have enough fire power offensively like last years team to be down in every game, down ten, down twelve."
On the final play of the game:
"We were trying to give Carlon the ball off of the run, using David as a decoy in the middle of the floor for the long pass. I didn't want to put David in that situation, but we wanted them to think he was coming in to get the ball and then have Carlon get the ball and go. I thought maybe he [Carlon] could get one more dribble off of the ball, but he didn't. Our team battled and came back within two at the end of the game to win it, but we couldn't."
Junior guard Carlon Brown
"When you don't make shots it gets frustration and you start to think about it. We couldn't get any rebounds or stops and they just out-toughed us as coach would say. We tried to get to the free throw line more, tried to get more fouls, make lay-ups and easy plays in the second half and it worked a little bit, just not all the way."
On the final play of the game:
"I was just going to shoot a three and then they trapped me, making the shot harder. If I had someone else to pass it to I would have, but in the end, all great players want to take the shot and win the game. That's what my plan was."
San Diego State Head Coach Steve Fisher
"We haven't had many victories here in the history of San Diego State, and in my 11 years, so this is a good win for us. This win makes you feel good about yourself, puts a little more bounce in your step when you come back the next day for practice getting ready for that next game. You can learn from a victory and tonight, the way the game went tonight, it was important for us to find a way to get a victory."
"They have a lot of new players and so do we, it's the same uniforms but it's not the same team. We each lost starters, we are two good teams that play hard, and we have had our troubles playing here against any team that they've had. To get a win in here was important for us."
"I thought we defended really effectively, Foster is a great defensive player and shot blocker. They did not have a scoring inside presence, which helped us but they have very good player and we hung on down the stretch."
