North Dakota State, San Diego State, Weber State Match Notes
The University of Utah volleyball team will return to an early-season-style of schedule this week as it will play three matches over the next six days. The Utes begin their week with a non-conference home match against North Dakota State. First serve from Crimson Court is set for 7 p.m. MT. Utah will step back into Mountain West Conference action Thursday at Crimson Court against San Diego State at 7 p.m. The week concludes Saturday with a non-conference matchup at 7 p.m., against Weber State at Swenson Gym in Ogden.
Deseret First Duel Review: Utah defeated BYU, 3-2 (18-25, 25-20, 21-25, 25-12, 15-6), in a Deseret First Duel match Friday at Crimson Court. The Utes have won six consecutive matches in the series, dating back to Nov. 27, 2007. It was also the third consecutive five-set win for the Utes over BYU at Crimson Court. Utah outhit BYU .248 to .123 in the match and held a 15-10 edge in blocks.
`Barto' Banter: Karolina Bartkowiak (Aurora, Ill.) became the 12th member of the University of Utah volleyball team's 1,000-kill club as she led Utah to a 3-2 win over BYU in a Deseret First Duel match Friday at Crimson Court. It was the Utes' sixth consecutive victory over the Cougars.
Redd Tops MWC In Hitting Efficiency: Erin Redd (Spanish Fork, Utah), a freshman middle blocker, is the MWC's leader in the overall statistics with a .387 hitting percentage this season, which is 13 percentage points ahead of the second-place player. On the block, Redd ranks second on the squad with a 0.87 block-per-set average.
Lanting Hits For Career High: Jennifer Lanting (Corcoran, Calif.) recorded a career-high 14 kills on 25 attempts for a .400 hitting percentage Friday against BYU.
