New Mexico and TCU Match Notes
The University of Utah volleyball team finishes its home slate against a pair of Mountain West Conference opponents this week as it takes on New Mexico and TCU. The Utes host New Mexico at Crimson Court Thursday at 7:30 p.m. MT. The match will be televised live on The Mtn. (Comcast - 37; DirecTV - 616), with Anne Marie Anderson calling the play-by-play and Amy Gant serving as the color analyst.
Utah will host its Senior Day festivities on Saturday before its 1 p.m., match against TCU. Dan Clayton, the voice of Utah Volleyball, will have the play-by-call on the webcast of the match here.
Karolina Does It All: Utah senior opposite hitter Karolina Bartkowiak (Aurora, Ill.) posted an impressive all-around performance last week as Utah split its road matches at Air Force and UNLV. Bartkowiak led the team with a .367 hitting percentage and tied for the team lead with 3.38 kills and 3.88 digs per set. Bartkowiak also turned in 1.50 blocks per set against the Falcons and Rebels, a mark that ranked second on the squad.
Fisher Approaches Career Dig Record: In only her third year playing the libero position, Utah senior Keisha Fisher (Ririe, Idaho) has 1,540 career digs, which is 31 shy of the school record, with four matches left on the regular-season schedule. Fisher needs to average 7.75 digs per match to tie the school record.
Odale Among MWC Leaders: Utah freshman outside hitter Morgan Odale (Star, Idaho) is in the MWC's top 10 in six different statistical categories. Odale is fourth with 3.91 points per set, seventh in kills (3.27/set) and ninth in service aces (0.25/set). She is listed second in the conference-only stats with 0.36 service aces per set, sixth with 3.86 points per set and is eighth with 3.18 klls per set against league opponents.
Redd Efficiency: Erin Redd (Spanish Fork, Utah), a freshman middle blocker, leads the MWC with a .377 hitting percentage this season. On the block, Redd is third on the squad with 0.86 blocks per set in all matches this season.
Dig and Dish: Utah senior setter Stephanie Neeley (Saugus, Calif.) is second in the league with 10.68 assists per set after 12 MWC matches. She ranks fifth in the conference's overall statistics with 9.30 assists per set this season. Neeley currently ranks fifth in school history with 2,922 career helpers. She has 28 career double-doubles and 14 this season, including 43 assists and a career-high 29 digs Nov. 1 against North Dakota State. Utah's previous record for digs in a four-set match was set by Connie Dangerfield against UNLV on Nov. 16, 2007.
