UtahUtes.com's weekly chat is designed to get Utah fans interacting with Ute student-athletes. Simply email your questions on any topic you choose to Ask A Ute Thursday through Sunday of each week. This week's featured student-athlete is Keisha Fisher (volleyball).
After being screened by athletic department personnel, the five best questions and the student-athletes' responses will be posted along with your name and hometown at UtahUtes.com on Tuesday each week and will also be included in the weekly Ute Update.
From Lauren in Idaho Falls
Why did you choose to go to Utah? What set the U. of U. campus apart from others you visited?
"I chose to come to Utah because of the team and coaching staff. The team was amazing, very comforting and funny when I came on my visit. They all had the same values as I do and loved volleyball! The coaches were great, as well. I knew Heather pretty well and heard Beth [Launiere] was an outstanding coach. They were great to me and I knew they had a really good volleyball program here at the U., with a winning tradition and I wanted to be a part of it!"
From Joy in Salt Lake City
What would setting the school record for digs mean to you?
"Setting the school record would be awesome because I have always looked up to Connie Dangerfield, who holds the record now. She was really good and it would be an honor to be mentioned along with her. It would definitely mean a lot! But to be honest, it's not really about me, it's about the team. I play for the team and it would be really cool to finish off the conference in the top two and make it back to the NCAA Tournament!"
From Mike in Cottonwood Heights
You play North Dakota State, San Diego State and Weber over a six-day period. Do you actually do anything differently during a three-match week like this?
"We try to not do anything different. All we're focused on is preparing for three matches in a week. We just have to put in extra time to prepare for that extra match."
From Teri in Midvale
What was your Halloween costume? What was your favorite costume of your teammates?
"For Halloween, I didn't really dress up because I was not feeling very well but we did dress up for practice that day. It was fun, but I didn't really have any particular outfit. I wore crazy spandex and a shirt that said `Original Costume' with a bar code on it.
From Hank in Kaysville What is it like to play for Coach Launiere?
"Playing for Coach Launiere is great! It's always intense and the atmosphere she creates is always positive. She has a lot of coaching experience and she always finds a way to win. She truly cares for her players on and off the court and it really shows!"
