SALT LAKE CITY - Six players scored in double figures as the Utah women's basketball team overpowered NAIA school Warner Pacific, 111-56, in exhibition to open the 2010-11 season.
Utah played all 13 players available, and each player scored at least three points. Michelle Plouffe tallied 19 while Taryn Wicijowski had 15 points with a team-high nine rebounds.
"We haven't spent that much time in zone offense, and we have spent a ton of time in man" interim head coach Anthony Levrets said. "The kids did a good job with their spacing and finding the open person. It felt comfortable - it wasn't perfect, but we have gotten better since we started practice."
Utah quickly jumped out to a 6-0 lead and held a 26-6 advantage with 10 minutes left in the first half. The Utes led 50-15 at halftime. Iwalani Rodrigues had 12 points at the break while Michelle Harrison had nine.
Harrison, Plouffe, Brittany Knighton, Allison Gida, Ciera Dunbar and Amy Krommenhoek all made their debuts at Utah.
Warner Pacific was led by Kelsey Mattsen's 11 points.
Utah officially opens the season on Friday, Nov. 12, at SMU.
