Natalie Edge competes in the 50, 100 and 200 freestyle events and is in her third season at the University of Utah.
"I just had a natural talent [growing up] for swimming and have a lot of fun with it because it's both an individual and team sport," said Edge. "Swimming is also a fun way to work out. It's nice because I am half deaf and since no one can hear in the water anyway, everyone else is kind of like me."
Last season, Edge set a new Mountain West Conference record in the 400 free relay with a time of 3:18.71 and was named the Most Inspirational Athlete at the Princeton Invite. Additionally, Edge also qualified for the Academic All-MWC last spring.
"I am majoring in math education because I really like helping people learn and I want to teach," said Edge.
When Edge is not in the pool, she enjoys doing calligraphy.
"Calligraphy is relaxing," explained Edge. "It isn't something that is physically exhausting and it's something artistic and fun to do."
