LOS ANGELES, Calif.- The 46th-ranked University of Utah women's tennis team (8-6, 0-0) blanked Loyola Marymount (2-9, 0-1) by a score of, 7-0, Tuesday at the LMU Tennis Center. The Utes swept all the doubles and singles matches. Senior Erin Monson clinched the match for the Utes from the No. 3 singles position by defeating Estelle LaPorte, 6-3, 6-1.

"We competed well," said head coach Mat Iandolo. "We made an easy match out of what could have been a real challenge."

In doubles play, sophomore Anastasia Putilina and freshman Paige Miles downed Jasmin Heckel and Shauna Morgan at the No. 1 spot, 8-0.

Monson and fellow senior Andrea Maughan secured the doubles point for Utah by defeating Elisaveta Pironkova and Jane Pringle, 8-5, at the No. 2 position.

Junior Evgenia Kryuchkova and sophomore Lisa Johnson topped Bliss Nixon and Melissa Valenzuela at the No. 3 position, 8-7.

In singles play, Maughan downed Audrey Bulkey, 6-1, 6-1, at the No. 6 spot, putting the Utes up 2-0 over the Lions.

Johnson defeated Pironkova at the No. 5 position, 6-3, 6-1, making the score 3-0.

Monson then clinched the match for Utah at 4-0 from the No. 3 spot.

Kryuchkova topped Pringle, 6-4, 6-2, at the No. 2 position, putting the Utes up, 5-0, over the Lions.

Putilina downed Heckel, 6-2, 6-4, at the No. 1 spot, making the score 6-0.

Miles rounded out Utah's sweep by defeating Valenzuela at the No. 4 position, 6-4, 6-2.

The Utes return home to begin Mountain West Conference play Saturday, March 27, when they host long-time rival BYU. The match will be held at 2:30 p.m. MT at the Eccles Tennis Center.
