ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Sophomore Brianna LeRoy represented the University of Utah track & field team with a fifth-place in the heptathlon after the second day of the 2010 Mountain West Conference Championships Outdoor Track & Field Championships Thursday at the University of New Mexico Track Complex. LeRoy has accumulated a career-high total of 4,670 points.
In the first event of the day, LeRoy turned in the fourth-best long jump at 17-4.75 to earn 643 points in the heptathlon standings. LeRoy took the sixth position in the javelin with a throw of 93-4 to take 447 points. In the 800-meter run, LeRoy took 575 points with the ninth spot at a time of 2:39.79.
LeRoy's previous top performance in her career was a total of 4,156 points at the Drake Relays on April 21.
New Mexico's Sandy Fortner turned in first-place efforts in five events to take the event crown with a total of 5,723 points. Kristen Kugler, of Colorado State, is currently in second place (5,057 pts.). CSU's Sophia Wagner placed fourth with 4,709 points.
