2010-11 Utah Swimming & Diving Schedule ![]()
SALT LAKE CITY - The 2010-11 University of Utah swimming and diving schedule features six different home events, several competitive non-conference dual meets and a strong Mountain West Conference slate.
"We are very excited about our 2010-11 schedule," Utah head coach Greg Winslow said. "The season promises to be challenging and will help prepare the Utes to have their best MWC Championship meet ever. Our non-conference opponents will only add to the excitement of a very challenging MWC line-up. This will be an amazing season for the Utah Swimming & Diving squads."
The Utes begin their season with a conference dual meet at New Mexico on Sept. 18.
Utah's schedule resumes with a Freshmen-Sophomore meet at BYU on Oct. 7. That weekend, the Utes will compete at the Mesa State Invitational in Grand Junction, Colo., Oct. 8-9.
Utah's second conference dual meet of the season will be at Colorado State on Oct. 15.
Utah returns to Salt Lake City to open its home season at Ute Natatorium against Denver on Oct. 29.
The Utes go on the road for the following two weekends, beginning Nov. 11-13 at Notre Dame before the squad splits to compete in three different events Nov. 18-20: the Toshiba Classic and dual meets against San Diego State in Long Beach, Calif., along with the Wildcat Diving Invitational in Tucson, Ariz.
Utah hosts Seattle (Dec. 3) and Arkansas (Dec. 4) at Ute Natatorium before taking a break to prepare for final exams. The Arkansas women's team finished 20th in last season's final CSCAA Poll. During the winter break, the Utes will train in Tempe, Ariz., Dec. 27-Jan. 9.
Utah will then compete at TCU on Jan. 15. The Horned Frogs' men's team earned 24 votes in the final CSCAA poll. The Utes will then coming back to Salt Lake City for back-to-back MWC home meets, starting against Wyoming on Jan. 21 then against Air Force on Jan. 22. Wyoming's men's team received five votes in last year's final rankings, while its women's team was awarded two.
The Utes close the month of January by visiting conference foe UNLV, whose men's team finished last season ranked 24th in the nation, and competing in the Air Force Diving Invitational on Jan. 29.
The Deseret First Duel meet against BYU Feb. 4 concludes Utah's MWC slate. The Ute men's team defeated the Cougars in Provo last season, 162 - 138, to end its five-year losing streak in the series.
The MWC Championships will once again be held in Oklahoma City. The postseason begins Feb. 23-26 and continues with the NCAA Zone E Diving Championships (Mar. 10-12) followed by the NCAA Women's Championships in Austin, Texas (Mar. 17-19) and concludes with the NCAA Men's Championships in Minneapolis, Minn. (Mar. 24-26).
