SALT LAKE CITY - Eli Brown, director of skiing at the University of Utah for the past five years, has announced his resignation, citing personal reasons. The athletics department will begin a national search for Brown's replacement immediately.
"I would like to thank the Utah Athletics Department and the supporters of the ski team," Brown said. "It was a great time working with gifted athletes in a beautiful setting. I wish the team the best of luck and an expedient path towards a 12th NCAA title."
Brown coached three national champions during his five years at Utah - Eva Huckova (2010), Snorri Einarsson (2007) and Scott Veenis (2006). He has coached 15 athletes to All-America honors. In 2008, Brown led Utah to a third-place finish at the NCAA Championships, its best finish since 2005. The Utes finished fourth in the nation this past season.
