BOULDER, Colo. - The Utes completed the final round of the Mark Simpson Colorado Invitational on Tuesday , moving up to ninth place from yesterday's 13th place, with an overall score of 898 (304-300-294). Jeff Kitches led the team for the second consecutive day, followed not far behind by freshman Ben Bankhead.
"We had a good day today," said head coach McCracken, "I'm hoping that will carry into next tournament in Albuquerque. Jeff played great, and Ben played considerably well for being a true freshman."
Kitches tied for 24th with a final score of 220 (73-73-74), four-over-par. Bankhead finished with a 10-over-par score of 226 (78-74-74), to tie for 45th. Mike Branca tied for 60th with a final score of 229 (77-76-76), 13-over-par. Other notable Ute finishers were Derek Adams (62nd place with 230), Cody Hughes (tied for 69th at 233), and Chase Hite (77th, 236).
New Mexico was the top finisher of the invitational with a five-under-par score of 859 (300-276-283).
The Utes will be heading to Albuquerque, N. M for the William H. Tucker Invitational on Friday.
