BOULDER, Colo. - The Utes finished the first day of the Mark Simpson Colorado Invitational with a score of 604 (304, 300), led by a two-over-par score from senior Jeff Kitches, who tied for 14th place.
Freshman Ben Bankhead finished the day with an eight-over-par score of 152, tied for 50th place. Mike Branca shot a nine-over-par score of 153, tied for 56th. Derek Adams tied for 71st with a score of 157, 13-over-par. Individual player Chase Hite tied for 75th with a 14-over-par score of 158. Cody Hughes tied for 80th place with a score of 160, 16-over-par.
Top team finisher of the day was New Mexico with a total score of 576 (300, 276).
The Utes will continue with the third round of tournament play tomorrow at 8 a.m. at the Colorado National Golf Club.
