Utah Head Coach Larry Krystkowiak
"Adams State came in ready to play. They came in prepared with a very energetic and athletic group and wreaked a little havoc on our team. This is a great learning experience. We're going to see a lot of that kind of pressure throughout the year and we need to be ready for it."
"To be honest we weren't in the position to win a close game tonight. But there are better days ahead."
"We need [senior center] Dave [Foster]. When Dave went down it put us in a little bit of a whirl wind."
Senior point guard Josh Watkins
"In my mind we get the loss out early. We know what we have to work on and next time there will be a better outcome."
Freshman point guard Kareem Storey
"We just have to finish out the game. There were some mental errors that we need to work on. We're a good team and I think we played well for our first game. We have a lot of steps to take but I think we'll be good."
"We all work hard. If you have heart and energy going into the game, then anything is possible. We played hard but we made some errors."
"It was a good experience. The home crowd was very encouraging. They had a lot to do with the energy. They kept us going. I'm looking forward to this year."
Adams State Head Coach Louis Wilson
"We have a tremendous amount of respect for Utah, this is one of the great programs in the West. To come on their floor and get a win the first night...in fairness to them they have a new staff and a new team and they are trying to find their way. We have a lot of veteran kids back and if you are Utah this is a tough schedule, this is kind of a trap game. They are going to be better. Hopefully we'll be better. It's just good to get on the road and scrap out a win in such a great place with a major team."
"I'm proud of my kids, I'm proud of my seniors. When you come into the University of Utah, into the Huntsman Center and you win a basketball game, it doesn't matter what the situation of their program is, this is a great program. This is one of the great programs in the Western United States and has been for a long time. I'm happy for my seniors and our basketball team and it's just an initial step for us."
