LAS VEGAS, Nev.- Sarah Pham and Callie Craig of the University of Utah women's tennis team completed the first day of play Friday, at the UNLV Invitational, in Las Vegas, Nev.
In the singles flight-1 round 16 Pham topped Laura Bernard of Long Beach State 6-4, 4-6, 6-1, while Craig downed Iris Verboven of Ole Miss 6-2, 6-3. In singles quarterfinal play Pham fell in a three-set match to 75th-ranked Caroline Rohde-Moe of Ole Miss 7-5, 4-6, 6-3, and Craig dropped a, 2-6, 6-3, 7-5, decision to UNLV's 95th-ranked Lucia Batta.
The Ute sophomores will face Erin Stephens and Gabby Rangel of Ole Miss in the Flight-1 doubles round quarterfinals Saturday, Sept. 24, at 10 a.m. PT.
