Utes Near Top of NCAA Blocking Ranks: Utah is fourth in the NCAA and second in the Pac-12's latest statistical rankings with a 3.10 block-per-set average as a team.
Judge Redd: Junior middle blocker Erin Redd (Spanish Fork, Utah) has been Utah's most efficient attacker this season, posting a team-high .347 hitting percentage that ranks seventh in the Pac-12 to go with her 2.29-kill-per-set average and she ranks second on the team with 0.26 aces per set. Redd has hit for 10 or more kills nine times in 2012 and 36 times for her career.
Bragging on Bailey: Utah sophomore middle blocker Bailey Bateman (Hooper, Utah) is third in the Pac-12 and ninth in the NCAA with 1.54 blocks per set this season and is second in the conference with 1.53 blocks per set in league matches only.
With 119 block assists this season, Bateman is 28 shy of tying Lori Baird (147 in 2008) for the 10th-highest single-season total in school history.
Bateman owns 123 total blocks this season and needs to average 5.3 blocks per match to tie Sheila Cottrell-Sorensen (1985) and Linda Byington (1991) for 10th place in the Utah single-season record book. Bateman has led or tied for the team lead in blocking 15 times this season.
Dalton Does It: From her right-side hitter post, sophomore Shelby Dalton (Moab, Utah) continues to show her versatility as she is ranked ninth in the Pac-12 with 1.31 blocks per set during conference matches.
Dalton excelled offensively as well as she paced the Ute attack with seven kills on 13 attempts with three miscues for a .333 hitting percentage on Friday at USC.
