The University of Utah ski team will celebrate its 2012 season with its annual Awards Luncheon on Wednesday, Apr. 25, from noon to 1:30 p.m., at the University Alumni House.
The team will recognize its achievements this season that included 12 different All-American honors and a second-place finish at the NCAA Championships for the second consecutive season and the eighth time since the sport went co-ed in 1989. Utah combined for a total of 671 points to earn second place at the national meet.
In addition to team recognition, individual accomplishments will be celebrated as well. The list of individual awards is below:
Alf Engen Sportsmanship Award: Awarded to the athlete whose affairs have been conducted professionally through hard work and determination, helping to mold the team through fine personal relationships with all athletes.
C.D. Reddish Memorial Award: Awarded to the graduating senior or upperclassman who has contributed the most to the team, not only in results per se, but in respect to community relations and promoting the sport as a diplomatic ambassador.
David Novelle Outstanding Skier Award: Awarded to the male athlete who has been one of the most influential factors to the success of our team with outstanding results through the entire competitive season.
The Toril Forland Outstanding Skier Award: Awarded to the female athlete who has been an important factor to the success and accomplishments of the women's ski team.
