SAN DIEGO, Calif. - Utah Women's Tennis wrapped up play at the San Diego State Fall Tennis Classic II at the Aztec tennis center, going 5-3 in the final day of competition.
Utah doubles team Callie Craig and Sarah Pham continued their win streak into Sunday as the pair defeated Dishkova and Verner of SMU 8-4 to claim the title in the doubles Black bracket.
Both Utah sustained their success in singles play as Craig downed Janine Koleta of USD 6-0, 6-1 and Pham topped Dasha Sharapova of SMU 6-2, 6-2.
After loosing in the second round, freshman Erica Valimaki bounced back with a wIn over Sophia Bott (UW), 6-3, 6-2.
Luisa Gerstner Da Rosa fell to Lorraine Cheung (CSUN) 6-2, 4-2, ret., while Sarah Richter was defeated by SMU's Anna Kate Anderson in three sets, 6-4, 2-6, 6-2.
In doubles play, Gerstner da Rosa and Richer were narrowly defeated by Coronel and Ysidora of UW, 8-6.
The Utes take a break from competition before getting back in action in the new year with the Virginia Invitational Jan. 18-20 in Charlottesville, Va.
