ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- The University of Utah's Tereza Bekerova fell in the singles championship match at the women's tennis USTA/ITA Regional Championships Sunday at the McKinnon Family Tennis Complex.
Bekerova won four matches over the course of the five-day tournament to advance to the championship match of a pool of 128 singles competitors. Facing McKenzie Davis from Utah State in the final match, Bekerova was narrowly defeated in three sets, 6-3, 5-7, 7-6(0).
Overall, the Utes sent two doubles pairs into the semifinals, Luisa Gerstner Da Rosa and Jena Cheng to the singles round of 16, Sarah Richter to the quarterfinals and Bekerova to the championship match of the regional tournament.
Next up for the Utes is the Brown Invitational Nov. 7-9 in Providence, R.I.
