Providence, R.I. – The University of Utah women’s tennis wrapped up competition at the Brown Classic in Providence, R.I., Sunday, falling to Arkansas six matches to none. The Utes return home with six total victories over the three-day tournament.
Coming off a doubles victory over Stony Brook’s Aday Osabuohien and Kristina Vozniak Friday freshman Jena Chang and senior Elena Najera-Salas fell to Makenzie Craft and Nastassia Rubel, 8-5. Senior Lucia Kovarcikova and freshman Alexia Petrovic suffered the same fate with a 8-5 loss to Mia Jurasic and Peyton Jennings.
The Utes continued to falter in singles play as the Razorbacks swept all four matches. Craft topped Cheng (7-5, 6-4), Nastassia Rubel downed Petrovic (6-3, 6-1) and Jennings defeated Najera Salas (6-2, 6-1). Kovarcikova fought her way to a third set against Jurasic, but ultimately was topped 3-6, 7-5, 6-3.
The Utes sum up their fall campaign with the ITA National Indoor Championships in Flushing Meadow, N.Y., Nov. 13-16.
