SALT LAKE CITY - Utah track and field senior Rosalie Waller was named to the Capital One Academic All-America third team this afternoon by College Sports Information Directors of America.
Waller has been recognized as one of the nation's top student-athletes for her performances on the track and in the classroom after finishing with a 3.99 GPA in biomedical engineering. She was recently awarded the Bud Jack Award which is presented to the senior female student-athlete at Utah with the highest GPA.
This evening she begins competition at the USA Track and Field Championships in Sacramento. She will be racing in the first round of the 800m at 4:15 p.m. PT. Waller recently earned honorable mention All-American status in the 800 meters at the NCAA Outdoor Championships.
At the NCAA Preliminaries in Fayetteville, Ark., she placed third in the quarterfinals with a time of 2:04.76. Earlier this season, Waller ran the 800m in 2:04.71 at the Drake Relays, setting a new school record. She also finished second at the Pac-12 Championships in Pullman, Wash. (2:07.20).
