Utah Invitational Day 2 Results ![]()
PARK CITY, Utah - Freshman Dominic Demschar earned his second career podium finish in his second career race with a second-place finish in the giant slalom at the Utah Invitational on Saturday afternoon. The Utes are third after the second day.
After running ninth after the first run, Demschar ripped off the fastest run of the day on the second run to move up to second. Also earning points for the Utes was sophomore Joergen Brath and freshman Endre Bjertness, who finished 11th and 12th, respectively. Junior Andy Trow crossed the line 17th. Tim Hribar did not finish his second run.
"It was a tough day out there because the snow conditions were quite difficult and every mistake penalized the racers tremendously and we just made too many little mistakes today," Utah head alpine coach Jaka Korencan said. "I am a little disappointed about our team's overall performance, because I know how well we are skiing right now. Congratulations to Dom, who has had an incredible start to his college career with two podiums in the first two races. We could not be more excited about his performances. He really deserves it."
Utah dropped to third in the team standings with 160 points six races still remaining. The top three teams are all within 10 points of each other with Denver leading (170 points) followed by Colorado in second (166 points). New Mexico (124) and Westminster College (118) round out the top five.
