FIRST SERVE
The Utah volleyball team (7-14, 1-9 Pac-12) returns home to open the second-half of Pac-12 Conference play, hosting Oregon this Friday, Oct. 30 and then closing out the weekend against Oregon State on Sunday Nov. 1.
The Utes will take on the Ducks (10-9, 4-6 Pac-12) this Friday at 8 p.m. and then turn around to face the Beavers (4-16, 2-8 Pac-12) on Sunday at noon.
COVERING THE UTES
Both of Utah's matches will be televised live on the Pac-12 Networks this weekend. Thad Anderson will call play-by-play for both matches, while Amy Gant provides color commentary for Friday night's broadcast and Elizabeth Moreau takes over color commentary duties for Sunday afternoon's match.
Fans can also follow the action on-line by logging onto Pac-12.com/live or watching via smart phones and tablets using the Pac-12 Now app, which can be downloaded at the Apple App Store, Google Play Store or Amazon Apps Store.

FIRST TIME AROUND
Utah fell in five sets on the road to both Oregon State (10/2) and Oregon (10/3) in the first-half of Pac-12 play earlier this season.
The Utes earned wins in both the first and third sets against the Beavers, but OSU came back to take the fourth set 25-13 and then won the final set 15-12 to take the match. Sophomore Adora Anae tallied a team-high 19 kills, but OSU's Mary-Kate Marshall notched a career-high 30 kills while leading the Beavers to victory. Junior Tess Sutton recorded a career-high 27 digs and freshman Megan Shughrou tallied five service aces.
Utah erased a 2-1 deficit to the Ducks, tying the match at 2-2 with a 25-19 fourth set win, but the Ducks closed out the final set 15-11 to earn the victory on its home court. Anae finished the match with a team-high 21 kills and sophomore Carly Trueman added 13 kills, while freshman Berkeley Oblad notched 10 kills on .562 hitting on the evening. Sutton posted back-to-back 20 dig efforts on the weekend, finishing the match with 24 digs against the Ducks.
SCOUTING THE DUCKS
Oregon dropped out of the AVCA Top-25 for the first time this season after going 0-2 against both L.A. teams last weekend ... Since opening the season with five-straight wins, the Ducks have gone just 5-9 and have dropped four of its last five matches ... Despite just having just one more win than losses this season, Oregon is 7-4 in road contests ... The Ducks have a pair of players with 200+ kills on the season with Martenne Bettendorf leading the ways with 232 kills (3.62/set) and Lindsey Vander Weide following with 224 kills (3.20/set) ... Maggie Scott leads the team with 753 assists (11.07/set) and Amanda Benson has tallied a team-high 317 digs (4.46/set) ... Kacey Nady leads the team at the net with 63 total blocks (0.89/set) ... Oregon has tallied 982 kills on .242 hitting and is averaging 12.92 assists, 14.99 digs and 2.00 blocks per set.
UTAH SERIES AGAINST OREGON
Oregon leads the all-time series 11-6 following its victory over the Utes earlier this season. Utah has tallied just one win against the Ducks in the team's previous six meetings, but the Utes did manage to knock off then No. 13-ranked Oregon at the Huntsman Center last season. Utah is 3-5 all-time when facing the Ducks in Salt Lake City.
SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
Oregon State has gone just 1-6 since downing Utah back on Oct. 2, in Corvallis, picking up its other win against California on Oct. 11 ... The Beavers head into the weekend with a four-match losing streak ... OSU is just 2-10 in road matches this season, but it does include a conference win over the Golden Bears ... Mary-Kate Marshall has tallied a team-high 274 kills (3.81/set), while Haley Clarke (105 kills) leads the squad with a .293 hitting percentage ... Marshall also leads the team with 18 service aces ... Dna Backlund leads OSU with 378 assists (8.40/set) and Kayla Ellis has posted a team-best 212 digs (2.99/set) on the season ... Clarke leads the Beavers at the net as well, having posted a team-high 75 total blocks (1.04/set) on the year ... The Beavers have tallied 815 kills on .168 hitting, while averaging 10.5 assists, 13.7 digs and 2.31 blocks per set.
UTAH SERIES AGAINST OREGON STATE
The Beavers pushed its all-time series lead to 10-5 with its five set win over the Utes earlier this season ... The Utes had won three consecutive matches against OSU prior to last season, but the Beavers have now won two-straight dating back to a five-set win over Utah in Corvallis last season ... Utah is just 2-6 all-time when facing the Beavers at home, but have won the previous two meetings against OSU in Salt Lake City ... OSU's last win in Salt Lake City came back in 2011.
UTES TAKE A BREAK FROM TOP-25 COMPETITION
With Oregon falling out of the AVCA Top-25 Poll this week, Utah will not be facing a top-25 ranked team on the weekend for the first time since opening up Pac-12 play during the week of Sept. 23. The Utes have faced at least one ranked team over the past four weeks.
NICE HOMECOMING FOR TRUEMAN
Tucson, Ariz., native, Carly Trueman, posted nine kills on .389 hitting, tallied a pair of digs and a pair of blocks (one solo block) this past Sunday against Arizona. In two matches against Arizona at the McKale Center, Trueman has thrived being back home, having recorded 17 kills and four total blocks the past two seasons.
UTES TOP PAC-12'S MATCH-HIGH LISTS
Four different Ute players rank among the top Pac-12 players in single-match highs so far this season.
Carly Trueman ranks first in single-match hitting percentage after hitting at a clip of .824 against Gonzaga, back on Sept. 5. The sophomore tallied 14 kills on 17 swings and did not commit a hitting error in the match.
Sophomore Adora Anae ranks second among Pac-12 players with her 27 kills that she recorded in a match against California back on Oct. 18. Anae's 27 kills trails only Oregon State's Mary-Kate Marshall, who leads the league with 30 kills in a single match.
Redshirt freshman Jessie Jorgensen, who tallied 54 assists a few weeks ago against California, ranks sixth in the Pac-12 for most assists in a single match. The 54 assists were a new career-high for the Provo native.
Senior Brenna DeYoung is tied for first in the Pac-12 single-match superlatives with 11 total blocks, which she recorded back on Sept. 5 against Gonzaga. She is tied with Colorado's Naghede Abu and Stanford's Ivana Vanjak.

A LOOK AHEAD
The Utes will be back on the road next weekend with a pair of matches in Los Angeles against UCLA (11/6) and USC (11/8). Utah then returns home the following week to host Arizona (11/12) and Arizona State (11/4).
Utah's contest against Arizona will be the team's "Salute America" match, inviting all fans to show their appreciation for the men and women that serve our country, while the match against Arizona State has been designated as Autograph Night. The Utes will be signing autographs for all fans in attendance following the match.
