UTAH vs. SOUTHERN UTAH POSTGAME NOTES
Utah 82, Southern Utah 71
• Utah moved to 5-0 in season-openers under head coach Larry Krystkowiak and have now won the previous six openers overall.
• Utah is now 82-26 all-time in season-opening contests, which includes a 74-13 mark when the season-opener has come at home.
• Utah is now 9-2 all-time against Southern Utah, winning six of the last seven contests dating back to 2001.
• Utah's 82 points mark the most points ever scored against Southern Utah in the history of the series. The Ute's largest scoring effort against SUU was a 73-point effort, which came in a 73-56 win back in 2000 and a 73-76 loss to the Thunderbirds in 2006.
• Coach Krystkowiak is now 69-64 in five seasons at Utah and 111-84 overall in seven seasons at the NCAA level. Krystkowiak moved to 2-0 all-time against Southern Utah.
• Utah moved to 9-2 all-time against Southern Utah.
• Sophomores Jakob Poeltl (26 points) and Kyle Kuzma (23 points) each scored career-highs on Friday. Poeltl's previous career-high was 24 points and Kuzma's was a 19-point effort.
• Both Poeltl and Kuzma recorded double-doubles on the night. Poeltl pulled down 11 rebounds to go with his 26 points and Kuzma grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds to go along with his 23-point effort.
• Senior Jordan Loveridge added 24 points on the night, giving Utah three players with 20+ points in the same game for the first time under coach Krystkowiak.
• Senior Brandon Taylor started in his 82nd straight game for the Runnin' Utes. Taylor has started in every contest since Feb. 2, 2013, during his freshman campaign.
