UTAH vs. TEMPLE POST GAME QUOTES
Utah 74 - Temple 68
Utah head coach Larry Krystkowiak
"I mentioned to our guys that often times the aggressor doesn't have as many fouls. In that Miami game we spent a little bit of time probably being the reactor, not the actor and usually in the game of basketball those fouls start accumulating against the reactor. And tonight I thought we were ready from the beginning to play hard. We seemed to be delivering the first punch and consequently that's where you get a little bit of disparity at the line."
"We cleaned up a few things at our practice this morning. We haven't been exactly a well-oiled machine offensively and some of the clarity after a day of coaching staff spending some time on offensive ideas, I think it freed our minds up and allowed us to play more aggressively on offense."
"We've spent some time on some post moves. He's playing a lot stronger. A year ago was trying to out-quick people with his post moves. Consequently, shooting off-balance shots in the post that's one of the things we've addressed. He never got his own offensive rebounds because he was off-balance trying to use his quickness. He's extremely athletic but he's never been the low-post player per se that relied on power."
Sophomore Jakob Poeltl
On the free throws with 4.6 seconds left...
"Pretty much I was cool. I was just focused on making them. There wasn't anything going through my mind. I was thinking about making the shot before I shot it."
"I just really tried to be aggressive from the start and they got into some foul trouble at the big positions. I just went with it. I tried to be aggressive, post up every opportunity I had, go aggressive on the offensive boards and I was just feeling it."
"I really wanted to bounce back from that (Miami) game. I wanted to show everybody that I can play with more energy and better than I did in that Miami game for the whole game for once and not sit out with foul trouble in the first half again. That was going through my mind early in the game."
Senior Brandon Taylor
"I was just confident. It felt good going in. I was relaxed more than anything, especially at a time like that. Me being relaxed helped me a lot. I wasn't stressed, not at all."
"I have my confidence back. The shots may not fall but they felt good. It's not like I'm walking away and feeling bad about the shots I'm taking. I didn't get down on myself when I missed a couple shots. I wish more could go in but I feel good."
"I felt like we bounced back and got back to ourselves. We really came together and executed our game plan as perfect as we could. It's not perfect but we tried to execute as good as we did and we really came together and were one out there."
