NEW ORLEANS - The Utah women's cross country team has been selected as a U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Academic Team, it was announced today by the organization.
The Utah women combined for a 3.31 grade point average.
"This is a terrific honor for a group of young women who exemplify the meaning of being student athletes," Utah head coach Kyle Kepler said. "They are outstanding ambassadors of the University of Utah who work hard on a daily basis to fulfill their potential as students, athletes, and within the community. It is a well deserved honor for a group of women I am privileged to coach."
In Kepler's 10 years as head coach, the Utah women have earned All-Academic Team honors in cross country eight times, as well as four times in track.
The Utes were one of 226 women's teams across the country to earn All-Academic Team honors. Programs must have a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or greater to qualify for the award.
