Both golfers tied for seventh-place overall at 6-under par
GREENSBORO, N.C. - After two rounds of play at the Bridgestone Collegiate, the Utah men's golf team carded a combined total of 5-under 571 (284-387) and head into tomorrow's final round in tie for seventh place at the par-72, 6,800-yard at Grandover Resort.
Duke tops the field of 13 teams after posting a combined score of 26-under 550 (283-267) through the first two rounds. Northwestern (-19, 557), Iowa State (-17, 559), Liberty (-17, 559) and North Carolina State (-15, 561) round out the top-five teams.
Senior Gentry Hicks led the way for the Utes, shooting 6-under 138 through the first two rounds. Hicks carded a 2-under 72 through his first 18 holes of play and followed with a 4-under 72. He heads into Tuesday tied for 7th-place overall. Sophomore Kyler Dunkle also manage to card a two-round score of 6-under par 138 after shooting 5-under 67 through the first 18 holes and a 1-under 71 in Saturday's second round.
Freshman Mitchell Schow shot 3-over 72 in the first round, along with a 1-over par 72 in the second round and currently sits in a tie for 53rd-place with a two-round score of 4-over par 148. Freshman Jordan Costello is in a tie for 60th-place following a two-round score of 5-over par 149. Freshman Peyton Hastings rounded out Utah's scoring through the first two rounds with a 36-hole score of 9-over 153 and sits in a tie for 73rd-place. Hastings carded rounds of 6-over par and 3-over par, respectively.
Utah will wrap-up the 2016 fall season with final round action at the Bridgestone Collegiate on Monday. A shotgun start is set for 8:30 p.m. ET tomorrow morning.
