SALT LAKE CITY - The No. 17-ranked Utah volleyball team will learn tonight if they earned an at-large bid into the 2016 NCAA Volleyball Tournament, with the selection show scheduled to air tonight at 7 p.m. (MST) on ESPNU.
Utah went 20-11 overall and finished in a tie for fifth-place in the Pac-12 with a record of 11-9 in league play. Both the 11 conference wins and fifth-place finish are program-bests since joining the Pac-12 back in 2011.
Â
Utah currently ranks No. 17 in the nation, according to the latest AVCA Top-25 Poll and No. 20 in the most current RPI rankings that were released this past Monday, Nov. 21.
Â
The Utes combined to go 14-4 overall in matches played away from the Huntsman Center this season, which included a 3-1 record against teams on a neutral court and a 10-3 record in true road matches. The 10 road victories are the most a Utah squad has recorded since joining the Pac-12 and it ties the second-most road wins in school history (2005 and 2008).
Utah is seeking its first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2014 and third overall in the past four years. An at-large bid would give Utah its 13th appearance in the NCAA Tournament overall. Utah has an all-time record of 12-12 in the NCAA Tournament, with all 24 postseason matches coming under the direction of current head coach
Beth Launiere.
