UTAH at USC Post Game Notes
Sunday, Feb. 21, 2016 | Galen Center | Los Angeles, Calif.
Utah 80, USC 69
• Utah moved to 21-7 overall and 10-5 with its 11-point win over USC on Sunday. Utah heads into next week in sole possession of third-place in the Pac-12 Conference standings.
• The Utes have now won at least 21 games in a season for the third straight year and for the 33rd time in program history.
• Utah defeated USC for the sixth-straight time, while moving to 20-17 all-time against the Trojans. Head coach Larry Krystkowiak is now 6-2 against USC. It was Utah's third-straight win over USC at the Galen Center.
• Utah's victory snapped USC's 16-game home winning streak, which was the Trojans' second-longest home win streak in program history. The streak dated back to last season's home finale against Washington back on Feb. 28, 2015.
• Utah not only picked up its first two-game sweep in Los Angeles (over both UCLA and USC), but the Utes became the first team in the Pac-12 to sweep both L.A. teams this season.
• Dating back to last season's win over USC at the Galen Center, Utah has now won three straight games in Los Angeles, marking the firs three-game win streak in the city of L.A. since collecting three consecutive victories between the 1965-66 and 1969-70 seasons (Oregon State, 3/12/66; USC, 1/3/69; Loyola Marymount, 12/13/69).
• Utah finished the Pac-12 regular season with a 5-4 road record. Heading into the week, the Utes and Arizona are the only two teams in the league with road records above .500 in conference play.
• Utah finished Sunday's game shooting .536 (30-of-56) from the field. The Utes have shot .500 or better from the field in seven straight games and 14 games overall.
• The seven consecutive games shooting .500 or better against conference foes is a new school-record, surpassing the six straight games Utah shot 50-percent or better when the program was a member of the Western Athletic Conference (SMU, .545; TCU, .588; Rice, .604; Tulsa, .517; UTEP, .643; New Mexico, .500).
• The Utes have score 80 points or more in six conference games this season. The last time a Utah team scored 80 or more points against conference foes came back in 2006-07.
• The Utes dished out 23 assists on Sunday. It was Utah's eighth game of the season with 20 assists or more.
• Utah led Sunday's game for a total of 37:23, while the Trojans had a lead for just 53 seconds.
• Jakob Poeltl led all players with 29 points and 13 rebounds. It was his second-straight double-double and 12th of the season. His 29 points matches a career-high for points scored against a Pac-12 opponent (at Washington, Jan. 24, 2016). Poeltl has scored 20 points or more in seven of the past nine games.
• Poeltl set a new career-high with four steals on Sunday. He also scored his 500th point of the season, becoming the 33rd player in Utah history to score at least 500 points in a single-season.
• Jordan Loveridge notched a scoring effort in double figures for the fifth straight game. Loveridge has averaged 15.2 points a game during that span and has raised his season average 0.8 points since Feb. 4.
• Brandon Taylor set a new career-high with 10 assists on Sunday. In a return back to his hometown, Taylor notched 17 total assists for the weekend.
