BERKELEY, Calif. - The Utah women's tennis team fell in a 7-0 decision to No. 1-ranked California on Friday at the Hellman Tennis Complex.
The doubles matches started with #6 Maegan Manasse and Denise Starr defeating the duo of Margo Pletcher and Brianna Turley, 6-0.
Ute freshman Taylor Calton and junior Luisa Gerstner Da Rosa tied it up with a 6-2 win over Stephanie Lin and Maria Smith.
The doubles point came down to the No. 2 position which was claimed by the Golden Bears' Klara Fabikova and Olivia Hauger over Sarah Richter and Alexia Petrovic, 6-3.
California then took each singles points. As #11 Klara Fabikova defeated Turley at the No. 2 position, 6-1, 6-1.
#7 Maegan Manasse followed with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Pletcher at the No. 1 spot.
The match was clinched at the No. 3 spot as #93 Denise Starr beat Richter, 6-2, 6-3.
Play was finished out to give the Golden Bears the 7-0 victory as they improve to 14-0 and 3-0 in the Pac-12.
The Utes face the #20 Stanford Cardinal tomorrow at 12 p.m. PDT in the Taube Tennis Center.
