SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah women's cross country team is set to compete in the Montana State Bobcat Invite this Saturday, Sept. 17. The race will be held at the Bridger Creek Golf Course in Bozeman, Mont., and is scheduled to begin at 9:45 a.m. MDT.
"It is a really fun meet. I think the Montana State coaches do a really good job of putting on a really great meet with their staff and all their help. It is really a great meet for the girls. They really enjoy the trip," head coach
Kyle Kepler said.
Competing against Utah in the three-mile race includes meet host, Montana State, along with Idaho State, Montana, Northern Colorado, North Dakota, Utah State, Weber State, and Wyoming.
"Montana State, always terrific competition. Weber State will be there and they are ranked fourth in the region and we are ranked fifth. Our teams are very similar. They return the bulk of their team who qualified for nationals who finished fifth behind us at the regional meet last year, but very experienced," Kepler explained. "They all will provide great competition for us with teams that are in our region. We will get a glimpse at who they are and what we will need to do to take care of business later in the year."
The Utes raced nine women last week at the Utah State Open, led by freshman
Ashley Licata, who placed sixth overall. This week the Utes will add more runners as they begin to prepare for the larger meets ahead.
Results will be posted on UtahUtes.com following Saturday's competition.
