Englund earns new indoor personal-best for 800.
BOISE, Idaho – Grace Englund won the 800 meters to lead the Utah track and field team at the Jacksons Open in Boise, Idaho on Saturday afternoon.
"Grace did a fantastic job today and had a really great season opener race in 800 with the win," assistant coach Chad Colwell said. "She executed her race very well and she just kind of sat back, paced even splits out, and was able to close so that was a fantastic performance by her."
Englund won the 800 with a personal-best indoor time of 2:11.17 and moves her into seventh all-time in school history in the event.
Rhianna Williams and Alissa Atisme finished second and third respectively in the 400 meters. Williams had a time of 57.03 and Atisme's third came in 57.11.
The Utes will return to action on Jan. 20, back in Boise, Idaho for the Bronco Invitational.
