Purss Named Pac-12 Diver of the Month

First diving honor for a Ute since 2013
SAN FRANCISCO – Utah's Josiah Purss was voted Pac-12 Men's Diver of the Month for January by the conference office today.

"It's exciting for Josiah to have earned this honor as a senior," diving coach Richard Marschner said. "He's put a in a lot of work over his career and had to beat out some of the best divers in the nation to get this recognition. He's peaking at the right time and we're looking forward to seeing his best diving here at the end of the season."

Purss won the 1-meter and placed third in the 3-meter at both the UCLA Invitational and Air Force Invitational. He then swept both events in the dual meet win against BYU. This is Utah's second all-time winner in the category.
Purss becomes the first Ute to earn Pac-12 honors since Bence Kiraly in January of 2015. Kersten Merry and Caleb Herrick swept the monthly diving awards for Utah back in January of 2013.Â
