INDIANPOLIS - During the first day of competition at the NCAA men's Championships, Utah's contingent recorded two personal bests and a top time in the 50 free.
Sophomores
Austin Phillips and
Daniel McArthur, first time competitors at the NCAA's, both swam in the 200 IM. McArthur took 37th touching in at 1:45.76. Close behind him in 39th place was Phillips. He came away with a time of 1:46.12, a new personal best.
Also competing today was junior
Paul Ungur. He set a new personal best in the 50 free as he touched in at 19.68. This time moves him into the third fastest time in Utah history.
Utah's senior diver
Josiah Purss took 45th on the one-meter event, tallying a total score of 245.45.
Ungur and McArthur will be swimming in the 100 back tomorrow as Phillips will swim in the 200 free. Purss will compete in the three-meter event.
Prelims are set to begin at 10 a.m. ET with finals at 6 p.m. ET.
